The New England Patriots have never lost to an Andrew Luck-led Indianapolis Colts. As a matter of fact, Luck and team have had their behinds handed to them on a platter, losing to them by 20 points or more in each of Luck’s four contests versus New England.

Assessing the upcoming game, which heavily favors the Bill Belichick-coached Patriots, NFL Network’s Michael Irvin proposed a strategy that would throw a monkey wrench into the Patriots’ plan of attack.

“If I’m Indy, I’m goin’ to seriously consider, right here, making sure I sit and not play Andrew Luck and leave (Matt) Hasselbeck in right now, ” Irvin said on NFL Thursday Night Kickoff. “First of all, Hasselbeck just won two games and I want to give us an opportunity where (if) we meet again, we have chance.”

Irvin is right on target when he assumes that the Patriots are going to annihilate the Colts. History has a way of repeating itself, and the Patriots are in a league of their own this season. They also have a score to settle in a big way against the Colts, who accused Tom Brady and crew of playing with under-inflated footballs in the AFC Championship game last year, launching the Deflategate scandal.

As for the Colts, why not make one last-ditch effort to put a wrinkle in Sunday’s plans and start Hasselbeck with his two wins? Meanwhile, Luck with his bum shoulder and now sore ribs can sit on the sidelines and keep all the blood off hands in this dirty matchup.
