It’s possible that San Francisco 49ers’ wide receiver Michael Crabtree could be joining head coach Jim Harbaugh as another member to depart the struggling organization.
Crabtree is an impending free agent, and when asked by reporters about whether he would want to re-sign with the 49ers, he had this to say.
It depends. I don’t even want to talk about it.
We can probably see the reason why Crabtree isn’t in a very talkative mood. He’s been less-than-spectacular as quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s No. 1 go-to guy this season. So far this year, Crabtree has topped 50 yards in only six of his 15 games, making opposing defenders’ jobs look easy when the ball comes his way. Since returning from his Achilles surgery in 2013, Crabtree just hasn’t been the capable receiver he once was.
With Crabtree not sounding too enthusiastic about remaining with the team, the 49ers’ feelings about keeping him around might be mutual.
