The Seattle Seahawks kicked the tires on Colin Kaepernick before ultimately settling on Austin Davis instead, something Michael Bennett isn’t pleased about.
Always ready to speak his mind, Bennett doubled down on his assertion that Kaepernick is being blackballed by the NFL.
“Of course he’s being blackballed,’’ Bennett said, per Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times. “Nobody likes race and politics in sports. That’s one of those things nobody wants to talk about and for him to bring race and politics in sports it struck a lot of people the wrong way.’’
Kaepernick has come under fire by many for his anthem protest last year, and he’s continued to pursue his passion for social change. It’s been reported that owners are terrified of signing him because of his political beliefs, which is something New York Giants owner John Mara pretty much admitted recently.
Bennett has said in the past Seattle would be a perfect place for Kaepernick and wishes the Seahawks had signed him. He said Kaepernick “would be a good player on our team. I wish we would have signed with us because we would have had a good backup quarterback after Russell Wilson. I love sacking him but it would be cool to be on the same team with him.’’
Obviously the Seahawks decided against signing the polarizing quarterback. And at this point, it seems it’ll take a big injury in camp or during the preseason for Kaepernick to find work in the NFL ahead of the 2017 season.
