It hasn’t been a very great week for Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett.
According to a report by NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport, Bennett has been fined for $17,363 for hitting Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith in the head and neck area in the Week 2 preseason game.
This doesn’t help Bennett’s case as it pertains to quarterbacks, who were the target of his ridiculous rant earlier this week when the defensive end called some of them mediocre and overpaid.
Bennett also referenced the questionable hit that Baltimore Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs made on Sam Bradford (that has since been deemed legal):
“Then quarterbacks get protected more than any other player,” Bennett said. “I mean, he gets hit in his knees and he’s about to cry, making a whimpering sound: ‘They hit me in my legs.’ Everybody gets hit in their legs. Every play somebody tries to hit me in my legs. So what makes him different? What makes his life better than mine? I’ve got kids. I’ve got stuff I like to do on the weekend.
“But because he gets hit in his legs, he gets a flag. He gets up with a sad face like the world just ended because he got hit. I mean, you got hit in an NFL game. Who cares? Get back up and be like, ‘Good job.'”
We would definitely advise steering clear of Bennett’s path this week. He has not held back his disdain for certain quarterbacks who he feels are babied and over compensated. As for his hefty fine for hitting Smith, that’s just something else he’ll likely fire off on as well.
