Mets sub Taijuan Walker for Joely Rodriguez after injury

The New York Mets were approved a roster substitution ahead of Saturday’s Wild Card Series game against the San Diego Padres.

Right-handed pitcher Taijuan Walker replaced left-hander Joely Rodriguez on the active roster. Multiple reports said Rodriguez is sidelined with a shoulder issue.

Rodriguez is ineligible to return for the National League Division Series, if the Mets were to advance, but could return for the National League Championship Series.

Rodriguez did not pitch in Friday’s 7-1 Game 1 loss. Rodriguez finished the regular season 2-4 with a 4.47 ERA in 50 1/3 innings pitched.

Walker, a starter for the Mets’ in the regular season, threw 157 1/3 innings and posted a 3.49 ERA while going 12-5.
