New York Mets outfielder Starling Marte was removed from Sunday’s game with a neck strain and is considered day-to-day, the team announced.
Marte was injured while stealing third base in the bottom of the first inning against the visiting Miami Marlins.
Sliding headfirst, his head made contact with the left knee of Marlins third baseman Jean Segura. Marte stayed in the game as a base runner but was replaced when the Mets took the field in the second inning.
Marte, 34, is batting .303 with one homer and two RBIs through 10 games this season.
