After returning to the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday following a lengthy holdout, running back Melvin Gordon took full responsibility for how his contract dispute played out with the team.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Gordon announced that he retained agents Fletcher Smith and Damarius Bilbo, who told Gordon from the beginning that he should rejoin the team.
It’s not often you see a player return from a holdout and take full responsibility for what happened, while also making it clear that he should have followed his agents’ original advice.
Of course, Gordon losing significant money in the process of holding out likely influenced his decision. The Pro Bowl running back only has a few days to practice with the team and get into better game shape, but there’s a chance he could play in a limited role on Sunday.
