Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd each scored two goals and the U.S. Women’s National Team captured the Olympic bronze medal with a 4-3 defeat of Australia on Thursday in Kashima, Japan.

Lloyd scored in first-half stoppage time and in the 51st minute to raise her Olympic total to 10 goals, passing Abby Wambach for the most in team history.

Rapinoe found the mark in the eighth and 21st minutes as the U.S. built a 3-1 halftime lead.

Sam Kerr (17th minute ), Caitlin Foord (54th) and Emili Gielnik (90th) scored for the Matildas.

This is the sixth medal in the last seven Summer Games competitions for the Americans, who won gold four times (1996, 2004, 2008 and 2012) and a silver medal in 2000.

Sweden plays Canada for the gold medal on Friday.
