Mavericks’ Luka Doncic, Spencer Dinwiddie out vs. Cavs

Dallas Mavericks star point guard Luka Doncic has been ruled out for Saturday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers because of a right quad strain, the team announced.

The Mavericks also will be without guards Spencer Dinwiddie (knee) and Josh Green (elbow), center Dwight Powell (thigh) and forward Maxi Kleber (hamstring).

Doncic, 23, entered Saturday’s action averaging an NBA second-best 33.0 points per game. The three-time All-Star also is contributing team-leading averages in assists (8.7), rebounds (8.3) and steals (1.6).

Doncic didn’t look the worse for wear Friday. He collected 33 points, nine assists and six rebounds in Dallas’ 130-110 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers.

Dinwiddie, 29, is averaging 16.4 points, 5.3 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 29 games (all starts) this season.

Green, 22, has contributed 7.0 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 25 games (one start) in 2022-23.

Powell, 31, is averaging 5.7 points and 3.5 rebounds in 26 games (22 starts) this season.

Kleber, 30, is out indefinitely with a torn right hamstring.
