The Dallas Mavericks are holding out hope that star Luka Doncic can return to the lineup on Wednesday against the Sacramento Kings.

According to Tim MacMahon of ESPN, head coach Rick Carlisle said, “The hope is he plays on Wednesday. It’ll depend on how he feels, how he responds to [increased basketball activities]. But all in all, he’s doing well.”

Doncic has been out of commission since Jan. 30, when he injured his ankle during practice. Since then, the Mavericks have gone 3-2, including a win against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday.

Before being banged up, Doncic was having an MVP-caliber season for Dallas, averaging 28.8 points, 9.5 rebounds, 8.7 assists and 1.0 steals per game.
