Matthew Stafford may not practice this week with back injury, per Matt Patricia

Detroit Lions starting quarterback Matthew Stafford was a late scratch for Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears due to a back injury, and he may not practice this week.

Stafford is recovering from fractured bones in his back. He wants to play as soon as he can, but the Lions are going to take a conservative approach to his recovery. Head coach Matt Patricia, when asked if Stafford would even practice this week, said, “we’ll see as we go through the week,” per ESPN’s Michael Rothstein.

On Monday, Patricia told reporters that Stafford is “truly day by day, week to week,” so it’s not surprising that he may not even practice this week.
