Matthew Stafford (back) will not play vs. Cowboys

After suffering broken bones in his back on Nov. 3, Detroit Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford will miss his second consecutive game as he continues to heal and rehabilitate the injury.

Lions head coach Matt Patricia told reporter on Friday that Stafford will not play on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.

Stafford entered with the NFL’s second-longest streak of consecutive starts with 136 games before missing Week 10 against the Chicago Bears. After being unable to practice this week, Stafford’s inactive streak now stretches to a second game.

Detroit will turn once again to quarterback Jeff Driskel to start during Stafford’s absence. Driskel struggled against Chicago with only 27-of-46 pass attempts completed and recording an ugly 5.8 yards per attempt.
