Matt Hasselbeck won’t be enshrined in the NFL’s Hall of Fame five years after he retires, but there can be no doubt his career is noteworthy.
During his 17 years in the league, he’s played in 11 postseason games, including Super Bowl XL, and has outlasted many of the league’s top superstars.
Still going strong on Thursday night starting in place of injured Andrew Luck, Hasselback did something that might surprise many by surpassing Hall of Famers Steve Young, Troy Aikman and Kurt Warner on the NFL’s career passing yards list.

It’s a stunning statistic, to be sure.
At the end of the game, Hasselbeck had totaled 213 passing yards, bumping his career total up to 35,443 yards. He was sharp in the victory over the Texans, throwing two touchdowns and no interceptions, despite the fact that he was battling a stomach virus that hospitalized him earlier in the week.
Hasselbeck’s strong play, along with fellow NFL old guys Frank Gore and Andre Johnson, who combined for all three Colts scores on the night, propelled Indianapolis to a much-needed road win to take first place in the AFC South heading into Week 6 with a record of 3-2.
