As the Miami Marlins continue to look for bright spots this season to build upon for the future, one of the team’s best, young players will be welcomed back to the lineup on Friday.

The Marlins are activating catcher Jorge Alfaro from the seven-day concussion list and he’s expected to slide back into his regular role as the team’s everyday catcher.

Alfaro missed a week of action after taking several hits to his mask on June 20. Now after being cleared by doctors, he’ll be able to return to the lineup for Friday’s game against the Philadelphia Phillies.

It’s a chance to get a little revenge for the 26-year-old against his former team. Miami squired him this offseason as part of the blockbuster J.T. Realmuto deal and thus far Alfaro has played well with a .731 OPS and strong defense behind the plate.
