The Miami Marlins activated right-hander Johnny Cueto ahead of Saturday’s start against the host Washington Nationals.

Cueto was on the 15-day injured list since Aug. 21 because of a viral infection. His last appearance was Aug. 15 in a no-decision against the Houston Astros.

After throwing two innings (39 pitches) of live batting practice before a Marlins game on Tuesday, Cueto said he felt good and was trying to lock in his rhythm.

“I’m very anxious, you know, I want to get out there and pitch (and) help in any way I can,” Cueto said through team translator Luis Dorante Jr. “But I feel great, I’m 100 percent healthy. I’m ready.”

Cueto is 0-3 this season with a 5.57 ERA, nine walks and 26 strikeouts in 32 1/3 innings over seven games (six starts).

The 37-year-old has played 16 seasons for the Cincinnati Reds (2008-15), Kansas City Royals (2015), San Francisco Giants (2016-21), Chicago White Sox (2022) and Marlins. He is 143-110 over his career with a 3.47 ERA, 628 walks and 1,838 strikeouts in 2,225 innings over 362 appearances (359 starts).
