Orlando Magic assistant general manager Anthony Parker was promoted to GM in a restructured front office on Wednesday.
The Magic elevated general manager Pete D’Alessandro to executive vice president under president of basketball operations Jeff Weltman.
Parker, 48, played college basketball at Bradley and was a first-round pick of the then-New Jersey Nets in 1997.
He has been with the Magic organization for 11 years in various roles. He was coveted by multiple organizations but opted to stay in Orlando.
John Hammond, 68, enters his 33rd season in the NBA with a transition to the role of senior advisor to the president of basketball operations, the Magic announced Wednesday.
“We are excited for John’s well-deserved next chapter,” Weltman said. “He has, and will continue to be, an invaluable resource. His experience has helped set the table for the Magic’s future and we look forward to continuing to lean on him in regard to everything from player evaluation to player development. He helped build a great team in Milwaukee and won a championship in Detroit. He has, and will continue to be, a great friend, mentor and confidant to the Magic family.

Anthony brings a unique perspective to our group as a former player and it has been great to watch his progression from player to scout to G League GM to the Magic’s assistant general manager. As GM of the Milwaukee Bucks, Hammond was NBA Executive of the Year in 2010. He was instrumental in the selection of Giannis Antetokounmpo with the 15th overall pick in 2013 and joined Orlando in 2017.
