The Los Angeles Lakers figure to be a very active team in free agency this summer, and if Magic Johnson plays his cards right he could usher in a new championship era.
There’s a high expectation that he’ll do just that, so it’s fair to wonder what’s going through his mind ahead of the free agency frenzy that’s coming. Johnson opened up about his approach to it all and says he doesn’t feel any pressure whatsoever right now.
Magic Johnson said he didn’t feel pressure about free agency, which starts this weekend.
“You know how many Finals I’ve been in? You think I’m worried about this?” he said. “I played in nine Finals. No pressure on me. I’ll do my job.”

Magic Johnson also opened up about his approach, noting he’ll remain “disciplined” throughout the process.
Magic Johnson added that Lakers would remain “disciplined” over next two weeks:
“We’re excited about free agency. We know we had two summers to deal with. We have the cap space and flexibility. We’re looking forward to July but we’re not putting all our marbles into one summer.”

The Lakers are, by all reports, big players for two of the biggest fish in the free-agency sea.
LeBron James is one of them, and the Lakers are reportedly interested in trying to team him up with none other than Chris Paul.
Then there’s Paul George, who would love to play for his hometown team. Los Angeles is getting some huge help from a season-ticket holder to try and make that happen.
The Lakers have a ton of cap space to lure these top players to Southern California. They also have the prestige of being one of the NBA’s top championship-winning organizations historically.
Johnson is obviously a big reason why the Lakers won so many titles. Now he’ll have a chance to bring to live a new championship-caliber roster. It’s going to be fascinating to see what he and the Lakers can accomplish this summer.
