Dallas Mavericks star guard Luka Doncic might be one of the best players at his position and a legit NBA MVP candidate. But the young man needs to control his emotions on the court.
Doncic entered Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers with 15 technical fouls on the season. If he earns another technical either in the regular season or the playoffs, Doncic will be suspended for a game. That same can be said every time he receives two technical fouls from here on out.
The good news? Doncic avoided getting a technical during Sunday’s matchup with Cleveland. The bad news? He was ejected early in the third quarter after tangling with Cavaliers guard Collin Sexton.
While Luka Doncic found it rather hilarious that this warranted a flagrant 2 and an ejection, other angles show that he legitimately punched Sexton in the groin.
That’s just not good in any way. As we noted above, Doncic has to do a better job controlling his emotions on the court. Dallas can’t be having any of this as the regular season draws to a conclusion and with the NBA Playoffs approaching.
Dallas entered Sunday’s action with a 39-28 record and as the fifth seed in the Western Conference. It is two games up on the Los Angeles Lakers in an attempt to avoid the play-in tournament.
For his part, Luka Doncic finished the evening with 15 points, five rebounds and five assists. Dallas held a large lead after three quarters.
