The Dallas Cowboys jumped the gun when they cut Lucky Whitehead on Monday after reports surfaced that he had a warrant out of for his arrest.

Both Whitehead and his lawyer made it clear he didn’t commit any crime and that he wasn’t even in the state of Virginia when the crime occurred. By Tuesday, police confirmed they had the wrong guy.

Not surprisingly, Whitehead feels betrayed.

Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News spoke to Whitehead on the phone. The former Cowboys receiver revealed he was basically called a liar about the entire thing.

It’s worth pointing out that there was potentially other stuff going on that might have something to do with why the ‘Boys were so quick to cut Whitehead.

Still, one can’t help but feel the Cowboys wrongfully used Whitehead to make an example after recent comments that they are building a “high-character” team that doesn’t tolerate off-field issues.

We don’t blame Whitehead for feeling the way he does.
