LSU running back Trey Holly taken into custody on attempted murder charges

According to college football insider Pete Thamel, freshman LSU Tigers running back Trey Holly has been taken into custody on three felony charges, one of which includes attempted second-degree murder.

Holly is also being charged with aggravated criminal damage and illegal use of a weapon. These charges are reportedly related to a shooting on Feb. 9.

After turning himself into the authorities on Thursday, Holly is currently being held on a $512,000 bond in Farmersville, Louisiana.

LSU’s statement acknowledged they are “aware that a student-athlete has been arrested in relation to a shooting in Union Parish.” The Tigers have since announced they’ve suspended Holly indefinitely from all team activities.

Who is LSU Tigers RB Trey Holly?

A former three-star recruit according to 247 Sports, Trey Holly is listed at 5-foot-7, 192 pounds. Born in Farmersville, Louisiana, Holly committed to the LSU Tigers, where he played in three games in 2023.

In that brief amount of playing time, Holly received 11 carries, rushing for 110 yards and a touchdown. Holly also caught a pass for five yards in what was his freshman season in the Bayou.

With LSU’s leading rusher Logan Diggs transferring to Ole Miss, along with Jayden Daniels’ graduation to the NFL, Holly was expected to see a larger role in the Tigers offense in 2024.
