LSU DB on Alabama: ‘I really see us dominating this team’

Ahead of LSU’s game against Alabama on Saturday, Tigers’ defensive back Dwayne Thomas has given some old fashioned bulletin board material to the Tide.

“I really see us dominating this offense,” Thomas said, via Ron Higgins of Nola.com and The Times-Picayune. “I really see us dominating this team.”

Well, we admire Thomas’ confidence. That’s for sure.

LSU last defeated Alabama in November of 2011. The Tide avenged the loss in that year’s BCS National Championship Game, rolling over the Tigers 21-0. The last four regular season meetings have all gone to Alabama.

With that said, the Tide has struggled some in Death Valley. In 2014, Alabama prevailed in LSU, but it took overtime. Two years prior, the Tide won a close game 21-17.

So, a close game would not be terribly surprising. In truth, calling an upset wouldn’t be completely outrageous. With that said, the last thing anyone at needs is for Alabama to be motivated.

The Tigers’ best chance at an upset will come if the Crimson Tide comes out flat on Sunday. That’s far less likely to happen if a senior on the opposing team is providing bulletin board material with brash guarantees.

One thing is certain. The heat is now on Thomas to have a big game. If he does and LSU wins, he gets a solid place in the lore of this rivalry. If not, his place in this rivalry’s history won’t be a desirable one.
