The relatively quiet offseason for NFL players not named Johnny Manziel came to somewhat of a crashing halt on Tuesday evening with a report that Los Angeles Rams starting strong safety T.J. McDonald was arrested on DUI charges.

From TMZ:

“L.A. Rams safety T.J. McDonald was arrested for DUI early Tuesday morning after cops say he crashed into a parked car … TMZ Sports has learned. We’re told McDonald waited for police to arrive and when they got there, cops noticed something was off about the 25-year-old … so they brought him to the station for a DUI screening.”

Interestingly enough, the DUI charge does not stem from alcohol. Instead, the gossip rag is reporting that medications were potentially involved.

McDonald, 25, has started 37 of a possible 48 games in three seasons with the Rams after being selected in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft out of Southern California.

He’s the son of former Pro Bowl safety Tim McDonald.

It remains to be seen how this arrest will impact McDonald’s status under the NFL’s Substance Abuse Policy.

Though, questions surrounding what exactly caused a positive DUI test will likely lead us to a conclusion at some point in the not-so-distant future.

McDonald is slated to start for a fourth consecutive season for the Rams as they make their return to Los Angeles in 2016.
