Those who suited up with former Baltimore Ravens running back Lorenzo Taliaferro during his three-year stint with the team are mourning his tragic passing at the age of 28 from an apparent heart attack earlier this week.

Taliaferro played for the Ravens from 2014-16 before injuries cut his career short. The former Coastal Carolina standout jumped on to the scene big time with nearly 300 yards and four touchdowns as a rookie.

The following season, current Las Vegas Raiders star tight end Darren Waller would join Lorenzo Taliaferro as a member of the Ravens. They were teammates for two seasons. With Waller’s Raiders going up against the Los Angeles Chargers on Thursday, the tight end took time out of his evening to pay tribute to his late former teammate.

It came after this 35-yard touchdown pass from Marcus Mariota in the second quarter after Mariota replaced an injured Derek Carr under center.

While the play itself was pretty darn amazing, the keen observer was able to see Waller throw up the 34 to represent the jersey number Lorenzo Taliaferro wore when he was a member of the Ravens before going with a prayer gesture.

A tragic loss like the one Taliaferro’s family is dealing with right now is never easy. Losing the young man at 28 years old is just something most of us could scarcely imagine. As for those who he worked with on the football field, it’s rather obvious that Lorenzo Taliaferro will be missed big time.

Our thoughts go out to the Taliaferro and everyone close to the young man.
