LOOK: Tons of empty seats for Angels home opener

The Los Angeles Angels hosted the Texas Rangers on Thursday for their home opener. But judging by the size of the crowd, the fans aren’t exactly enthused.

Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News posted video of the crowd just minutes before the game started. Plenty of seats were available.

For reference, the Miami Marlins, who are notorious for struggling to draw fans, had an announced attendance of 25,423 on Opening Day. That’s roughly 69 percent capacity for Marlins Park.

Judging by Grant’s shot, Angels Stadium looks less than 69 percent full. And Miami has a team that’s clearly rebuilding without any stars to speak of. If nothing else, Los Angeles has Mike Trout.

We understand that the Halos had a rough start to the season on the road. Still, this many seats should not go unclaimed for a home opener.
