Look: Stadium was empty for kickoff of Dolphins-Texans game

Two winning teams are taking on one another on Thursday Night Football. It might not have had an all-time great lead-up to it, but both the Miami Dolphins and Houston Texans opened Week 8 with 4-3 records.

Just don’t tell that to fans in Houston. As the game itself was kicking off, NRG Stadium seemed to be about two-thirds empty.

That’s just not good. It’s also been somewhat of a common theme for midweek games thus far this season.

We saw the same thing play out in Arizona immediately prior to the lowly Cardinals hosting the Denver Broncos last week.

To be fair, the stadium did fill up as the first quarter moved forward. Even then, this has to be somewhat of a concern for the NFL. It’s not good optics.

And unlike games in the west coast that start during rush-hour traffic, there’s no real excuse in Houston.
