LOOK: Panthers’ Cam Newton calls himself out on IG

Carolina Panthers quarterback and former NFL MVP Cam Newton missed the final 14 games of the 2019 season with a Lisfranc injury. This came after Mr. Newton underwent off-season shoulder surgery.

To say that the past calendar year has not gone swimming for the previously dynamic quarterback would be an understatement.

Newton just took to Instagram to both call himself out for being mediocre and promise that those days have come to an end.

If you can read between the lines (almost literally), this is Newton’s way of indicating that he’s settled for being anything less than the best.

Given his performance in recent seasons, this should be music to the ears of teams potentially looking to chase after the former No. 1 overall pick once the spring comes calling.

Including two games this past regular season, Newton has thrown 46 touchdowns compared to 30 interceptions while boasting a 17-15 record since the start of the 2017 campaign.

Currently looking for a new head coach, it’s not yet known whether Newton is in the Panthers’ plans moving forward. Previous reports suggested that the team was planning to move on from its former franchise signal caller.
