We are now starting to see imagery that will represent the backdrop of the NBA season restarting at Walt Disney World in Orlando on July 30. The defending champs are making sure everyone knows where they stand.

Toronto Raptors make statement with Black Lives Matter buses

A simple message, one that speaks to the core issues of what we’re seeing in America today following the murder of George Floyd back on May 25.

The Black Lives Matter movement and protests against racial inequality in the United States will be a major backdrop once the season resumes in about three weeks.

Expect national anthem protests once NBA season resumes

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has already noted that he would like to join his players in anthem protests. While the NBA does have a rule that forces players and team personnel to stand for the anthem, it’s an outdated rule that the Association is unlikely to follow.

Brooklyn Nets star guard Kyrie Irving has openly questioned whether it makes sense to resume the season amid the growing racial tensions. Other players have been outspoken about the issues of the day, including the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

It’s going to be interesting to see how all of this plays out in the coming weeks. For now, the reigning NBA champs are making a major statement.
