LOOK: Cubs thank Joe Maddon after parting ways

Sunday was a bittersweet day for Joe Maddon and the Chicago Cubs. It started with the two entities announcing that they had decided to mutually part ways with one another after a widely successful five-year union.

Chicago went on to get blown out in its final game as the team misses out on October baseball for the first time 2014.

Following the blowout loss, the Cubs’ social media team took to Twitter to thank Maddon with a simple, but respectful post.

The marriage might not have ended the way these two would like. That’s fine. But Maddon did lead Chicago to its first World Series title since 1908 when the team hoisted the trophy three years ago.

As it relates to Maddon, he’ll more than likely have his pick of suitors during the winter. On the other hand, Chicago remains an extremely attractive destination for potential candidates.

Maddon finished his Cubs career with a 471-339 record. It’s among the most successful tenures for a manager in franchise history.
