Lions’ Matthew Stafford suffers ankle injury on TD pass

The play itself was otherwise awesome. But it could have wide-ranging ramifications on the Detroit Lions’ playoff hopes.

Early in the fourth quarter of Thursday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings, Stafford hit Marvin Jones on this beautiful 43-yard touchdown pass to pull Detroit to within four points.

Unfortunately, Stafford saw his troublesome right ankle rolled up on, forcing him to head to the sideline with a considerable limp. Stafford had been dealing with injury throughout pretty much the entire 2017 campaign.

Backup Jake Rudock could be seen on the sideline warming up as Stafford had his ankle taped up yet again.

While Stafford did end up returning to the game, he’s still limping considerably. It will be something to watch following the game and heading into Week 13. Detroit entered Thursday’s action with a 6-4 record and clearly in the mix for a playoff spot in the NFC.
