Lions’ Matthew Stafford misses practice again, unlikely to play Sunday

The Detroit Lions were expecting a multi-week absence for veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford, who is dealing with broken bones in his back.

Despite this, Stafford was still a game-time decision for last week’s outing against the Chicago Bears. That might not be the case as Detroit hosts the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

Stafford missed practice once again on Thursday, a clear indication that Jeff Driskel will get the start for Detroit.

Players missing late-week practices normally leads to them being inactive on Sunday. Given the nature of Stafford’s injury, this is not really a surprise.

Driskel completed 27-of-46 passes for 269 yards with a touchdown and an interception in last week’s loss to the Bears.

Currently sitting at 3-5-1, Detroit is pretty much out of the NFC Playoff race. There’s no real reason for the team to rush Stafford back.
