The New York Jets made a ton of news prior to Tuesday’s NFL trade deadline without making a single move.
New York was said to be in sell-off mode after dealing Pro Bowl defensive lineman Leonard Williams to the Giants on Monday.
Among those bandied about was first-year Jets running back Le’Veon Bell, who like the rest of the team, has struggled this season.
Bell took to social media once the deadline passed to note that he’s “happy as hell” to be a member of the Jets.
“I want everyone to understand, it takes a process to build a winning program. To build a winning organization” Bell said. “I am happy as hell to be a New York Jet. I’m happy as hell to be here despite all of the trade rumors.”
That’s a logical and level-headed response from Bell. He could have gone in a different direction, much like teammate Jamal Adams did earlier in the day.
Bell, 27, has to be frustrated. He’s averaging just 3.2 yards per attempt through seven games. This comes after the three-time Pro Bowler signed a four-year, $52.5 million deal with the Jets back in March.
