Rockets owner ups Harvey relief donation from $4 million to $10 million

Leslie Alexander

Houston Rockets owner Leslie Alexander is, like many in the state of Texas, doing what he can to help out as the city of Houston remains under water. On Monday, it was reported Alexander was donating $4 million to aid in relief efforts. On Tuesday, that amount was more than doubled.

This is a tremendous act of generosity. We’ve also seen other acts of goodwill in the region, such as the Dallas Cowboys participating in a telethon to raise money for the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Houston Texans defensive lineman J.J. Watt has helped raise more than $1 million after first asking people to help him raise $500,000.

All this money is desperately needed. Nobody knows exactly how much devastating Hurricane Harvey has caused and will continue to cause throughout the week. It’s created historic flooding in the Houston region and continues to dump copious amounts of rain onto already saturated regions that have not the capacity to deal with it all.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with everyone who is stranded, and with those out there doing the hard work to help rescue them.
