LeSean McCoy has lawyered up in a big way, hiring Atlanta defense attorney Don Samuel, who has previously defended Ray Lewis and Ben Roethlisberger, according to Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports.
As Robinson notes, “Samuel’s hiring is an unambiguous sign that McCoy intends to aggressively defend himself against allegations that have yet to find provable traction.”
McCoy is being accused of orchestrating an attack against his ex-girlfriend, Delicia Cordon, which took place early Tuesday morning at a home he owns in Milton, Georgia.
Police have confirmed that two women suffered injuries in the attack, and that the attack appears to have been a specifically targeted incident, rather than a random encounter.
Cordon’s lawyer issued a statement Tuesday evening accusing McCoy or setting up the attack, noting that the assailant (or assailants) were demanding pieces of jewelry that McCoy had gifted her and asked to be returned to him since they broke up.
Responding to these accusations, McCoy has adamantly denied having any involvement and said he has not spoken to or seen Cordon in months.
