LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers find themselves at 24-25 on the season following a humiliating 138-122 blowout loss to the lowly Atlanta Hawks Tuesday evening.

It represents the second consecutive dud for the Lakers after they were throttled by the Houston Rockest the night prior.

With roughly a week to go before the NBA trade deadline and considering head coach Darvin Ham is on the hot seat, James couldn’t have picked out a better time to send out a cryptic post on X (formerly Twitter). At 2:26 ET Wednesday morning, that’s exactly what he did.

No words. No memes. No GIFs. Just an emoji. With that one emoji, King James is going to set off a slew of rumors and innuendo around the basketball world. It can’t be a coincidence that the post came shortly after Los Angeles was blown out by Atlanta on the road Tuesday evening.

We don’t have to be internet sleuths to understand what this means. James is legitimately saying that time is running out. From there, it is pretty much anyone’s best guess.

Speculation about Ham’s job status has heated up big time in recent weeks. Meanwhile, the Lakers themselves have been found mired in several rumors ahead of the NBA trade deadline.

It was during Tuesday’s game that Hawks fans in Atlanta trolled Lakers guard D’Angelo Russell amid rumors that he could be sent to that team in a package involving Dejounte Murray heading back to Los Angeles.

Either way, James’ cryptic post on social media was the talk of the late-night NBA world.
