LeBron James shades Grizzlies for firing David Fizdale

LeBron James

The Memphis Grizzlies shocked the NBA world on Monday afternoon, firing head coach David Fizdale with the team in the midst of an eight-game losing streak.

Having played under Fizdale with the Miami Heat for four seasons, three-time NBA champ LeBron James has seemingly taken exception to Memphis’ decision to fire Fizdale after less than two seasons as the team’s head coach.

Not only was Fizdale a popular assistant with the Heat, he’s a well respected basketball mind around the NBA world. The firing surely caught a lot of insiders and players by surprise.

James’ use of the term “fall guy” here is interesting in that Grizzlies GM Chris Wallace has been under fire recently. He’s struck out on the draft in a big way over the past couple years and missed horribly on the Chandler Parsons signing prior to last season.

Needless to say, we can cross Memphis off the list of potential destinations once LeBron hits free agency next summer.
