Often when a professional tweets something, we need a cryptologist to ascertain what they mean. This had been the case with San Francisco 49ers running back LaMichael James. Not so much anymore.
Immediately after The Sacramento Bee’s Matt Barrows reported on Wednesday that the 49ers were looking to trade James, the backup running back had this to say.
When old news become new news

This alone could be viewed as a cryptic tweet. However, it was James’ actions in the following hour or so that pretty much told us where he was at as a member of the red and gold.
Well then.
Unfortunately for James, he’s not going to be reuniting with Chip Kelly in Philadelphia as the Eagles acquired a better version of James in the form of Darren Sproles. No matter what the former second-round pick might think of himself, there likely isn’t going to be a great market for his services. He’s a change-of-pace running back that can play special teams.
When San Francisco selected James in the second round of the 2012 NFL draft out of Oregon, there were many that indicated they overreached. Let’s see if any other team out there values the talented running back more than the 49ers do.
