Lakers rumors: J.R. Smith could reunite with LeBron James if waived by Cavaliers

The Los Angeles Lakers could soon facilitate a reunion between LeBron James and his former teammate with the Cleveland Cavaliers, J.R. Smith.

Smith has long been rumored to be on the trade block, but if the Cavaliers can’t move him he’s expected to be released. If that happens, he could very well end up playing alongside James once again.

Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports said Tuesday, “When he’s waived, it is my belief he will end up with the Lakers.”

Smith and James, of course, are quite familiar with one another and have a comfort level that’s tough to replicate. They won a championship together as members of the Cavaliers and could be eager to team up once more in Los Angeles.
