Lakers Gaming defeated Magic Gaming in the grand final to claim its first NBA 2K League’s 3v3 Slam Open title on Saturday.

After Lakers Gaming edged out Magic Gaming 3-2 in the upper-bracket final, Magic Gaming moved into the lower-bracket final to take on Gen.G Tigers and pulled off a three-game sweep, winning 23-16, 22-13 and 21-10. Ashton “LowkeyGodlike” Agredano led the Magic, averaging 9.3 points per game.

That allowed Magic Gaming to get a rematch with Lakers Gaming in the grand final, but because Lakers Gaming had yet to lose in the tournament, Magic Gaming needed to beat them in two series.

Magic Gaming won the first series 3-1, but Lakers Gaming came back to sweep the do-or-die final series 3-0, winning 23-12, 22-18 and 21-14.

Dhwan “ShiftyKaii” White was the star for Lakers Gaming, earning MVP honors after tallying 30 points, 10 assists and a steal over the final three games.

In the lower bracket, Gen.G Tigers advanced to the final when it rallied to beat Pistons GT 3-2 after losing two of the first three games. Jaiden “gallo” Frank carried the load for Gen.G, averaging more than 12 points per game.

Pistons GT took the opener 21-18, then Gen.G tied it up with a 22-20 win before Pistons GT took the third game 22-18. Gen.G evened it with a 23-11 victory, then won 22-18 to clinch the final.

The Slam Open is the first of 3v3 tournaments in the NBA 2K League season, with the Switch Open (March 20-April 6) and the Steal Open (April 19-20) to follow. The playoffs are set for April 24-27 in Washington.
