Kyler Murray was on everyone’s mind after Oakland A’s reportedly axed minor league salaries

On Tuesday, the Oakland A’s reportedly told their minor league players they won’t be getting paid any more amid the pandemic. Jeff Passan of ESPN shared this awful news on Twitter.

Really, from a cost-cutting standpoint this could be construed as an infuriatingly weak move from Oakland’s ownership.

Anyway, as news of this decision circulated around Twitter Tuesday evening, many people immediately thought about Kyler Murray.

Remember, before choosing the NFL, becoming the first overall pick by the Arizona Cardinals and winning NFL Offensive Player of the Year, Murray was a first-round pick (ninth overall) of Oakland. The A’s had signed Murray to a contract that was reportedly worth $5 million.

Ultimately, he opted to pursue his NFL dream. And it has obviously paid off already in more than one way.
