Kyler Murray followed up a spectacular NFL debut with a humbling experience in his second preseason game with the Arizona Cardinals. The rookie out of Oklahoma struggled big time, but he was quick to brush off any criticism after the game.

Speaking about his young quarterback’s rough outing, Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury praised his mental makeup while sharing the only thing that seems to rattle Murray — losing at Fortnite.

Kingsbury’s commentary on Murray’s demeanor shows a couple of things. One of them has been readily apparent since early in Murray’s single season as Oklahoma’s starter in 2018: It’s going to take a lot more than a rough preseason game to cause Murray to suffer from any self doubt.

The second is just as important. Kingsbury has no problem identifying with the younger generation, and more than that it seems like he embraces all that comes with it. That bodes well for his ability to connect with Murray, and the other young players on Arizona’s roster.
