As the combine got kicked off last week, Arizona Cardinals general manager Steve Keim threw a tanker’s worth of jet fuel on the Kyler Murray-to-Arizona bonfire by failing to commit 100 percent to Josh Rosen.

Since then, more and more rumors have emerged suggesting the Cardinals will, in fact, take Murray No. 1 overall despite having traded up to No. 10 last year to select Josh Rosen.

As if the smoke weren’t thick enough, NFL draft analyst Tony Pauline is now reporting that Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury is telling people that Murray to Arizona is a “done deal.”

Now, Kingsbury is on record praising the heck out of Murray and saying he wouldn’t hesitate to draft him No. 1 overall. Yet those comments came before he was hired as the new head coach of the Cardinals, and since then he’s thrown his support behind Josh Rosen.

As crazy as it seems, nobody should discount that Kingsbury is (still) enamored with Murray, however. And there are already reports out there that other teams are inquiring about Rosen’s availability in a potential trade.

Yes, it’s lying season around the NFL. Nobody can deny that much of what we hear this time of year is just hot air. Yet there is so much of the same information being shared by so many different sources as it pertains to Murray and the Cardinals that one cannot help but think there’s some real truth to the interest.
