Klay Thompson: I don’t see a team who can beat Golden State Warriors in seven games

While it’s been ten months since the Golden State Warriors won the NBA Finals, many seem to forget who the reigning champions are. Not five-time All-Star Klay Thompson. He hasn’t forgotten.

Yet, with the Warriors in just sixth place in the Western Conference, one could make a strong argument that the team is entering the playoffs mostly off the radar when it comes to top NBA Finals contenders. It’s an amazing feat if you really think about it, shedding the target off their backs that typically comes with an NBA Championship.

Still, as mentioned, Thompson hasn’t lost any confidence in his squad, who recently got Andrew Wiggins back after dealing with personal issues for the past 23 games. In fact, Thompson doesn’t see a single team better than his Dubs.

Thompson went on to give his team a few keys to victory throughout the postseason, which included: taking good shots, avoiding turnovers, and playing great defense. If those factors are taken care of, Thompson feels the Warriors will be in a “great position to repeat.”

Basically, Thompson feels Golden State simply needs to do what they did last year when the Warriors entered the postseason as the three-seed, defeating Denver, Memphis, Dallas, and Boston on their way to hoisting the Larry O’Brien Trophy for the seventh time in franchise history.

Who knows? Perhaps an eighth championship is in the organization’s near future. Thompson certainly thinks his team has as good of a shot as any. Who would we be to doubt the reigning champs’ ability to emerge from the pack again? Stephen Curry hasn’t lost a step, and after winning seven of their past ten, the Warriors are getting hot at the perfect time.
