The past 72 hours have been quite the emotional rollercoaster for All-Pro pass rusher Khalil Mack.
On Friday, he was in the midst of a holdout with the Oakland Raiders. Reports emerged that the Raiders had “no interest” in trading him. On Saturday morning, Oakland was finalizing a trade to send him to the Chicago Bears. It wasn’t a move that Mack was expecting, but he handled it with ease.
“I was definitely shocked. Definitely shocked,” Mack said, via Yahoo Sports. “But you don’t have time to be shocked for long. It’s kind of like, ‘Oh word? What time is the flight tonight? I guess I don’t have time to think about it.’”
The 27-year-old made the best of the sudden change in circumstances. Contract talks with the Bears moved quickly on a record-breaking contract.
In such a short span, one of the game’s best players found himself in a new city and with a new contract. After all of the turmoil and uncertainty he faced with the Raiders, Mack ultimately landed with a team that wanted him and showed it.
