Making his return to Washington D.C., Golden State Warriors forward Kevin Durant had to exit early in the first quarter with what was a scary-looking knee injury. It happened in the low-post with Wizards big man Marcin Gortat throwing Durant’s teammate down to the hardwood.
Zaza Pachulia would eventually land on Durant’s leg, forcing the former MVP to show a nice amount of pain in the process.
Here’s the play in question.
Immediately after this happened, Durant motioned to Warriors head coach Steve Kerr to call a timeout — heading immediately to the locker room in the process.
As you can see, Durant is holding his knee there.
The Warriors have announced that Durant suffered a hyper-extended and will not return to action. He will undergo an MRI to determine the next course of action.
We will have further updates as they become available.
