While the Phoenix Suns claim they have no intention of breaking up their big three of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal, one league insider believes that is all a smokescreen and they will talk trades with rival teams this summer.

Despite having a three-headed scoring monster the Suns were a disappointment this season. While they were given a pass for not going far in the 2023 NBA Playoffs after trading for Durant late in the season, their 49-33 record in 2023-24 and being bounced in the opening round was not a good look for the organization.

Due to having a trio of very expensive stars, the front office has serious limitations in what they can do to improve the roster around their Big Thee. That is why there has been speculation for months the trio could soon be broken up. However, the organization has taken a public stance that neither Durant, Booker, or Beal are going anywhere.

However, during an SNY column making early offseason predictions, NBA insider Ian Begley suggested the recent comments from the Suns front office may just be talk, and they could have conversations with other teams about moving future Hall-of-Famer Kevin Durant.

“The Suns and Warriors will have at least exploratory talks on a trade that would land Durant back in Golden State,” Begley wrote. “Everything the Suns have said publicly suggests that they will run it back with their big three of Durant, Devin Booker, and Bradley Beal. But something is amiss there. So I predict that Phoenix will at least talk casually with teams about a potential Durant trade.”

There has been a great deal of speculation of a Durant reunion in Golden State since the Warriors made overtures for a Lebron James trade during the season and seem to be hunting for a third star with Klay Thompson likely moving on this summer.

Durant was part of a Warriors team that went to three straight NBA Finals and won two championships.
