Kerrith Whyte took 23 carries for 102 yards and a touchdown and Alex Kessman made three of his six field goals in the fourth quarter to help the Memphis Showboats get by the host New Jersey Generals 25-16 for their fifth straight win on Sunday in Canton, Ohio.
Whyte’s 2-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter gave Memphis a 13-3 lead by halftime, and the Showboats (5-3) relied on Kessman’s leg from there. Kessman went 6-for-6 on field goals, all from 38 yards or closer.
Dakota Prukop went 14-of-25 passing for 128 yards, two touchdowns and one interception for the Generals (2-6). Memphis forced three turnovers and held New Jersey to 246 total yards while controlling possession for a whopping 40:55.
Showboats quarterback Cole Kelley finished 15-for-24 passing for 176 yards and an interception.
