Karl-Anthony Towns takes shot at former HC Tom Thibodeau

Players have all the power in today’s NBA world. The recent run of free agency this month proves that to a T.

It’s in this that some have openly wondered whether Minnesota Timberwolves star Karl-Anthony Towns will soon request a trade. The team has made the playoffs just once in his four seasons. There has to be frustration on Towns’ end.

In talking about that, Towns didn’t critique his current organization. Instead, he went directly at former Wolves head coach Tom Thibodeau.

Towns is obviously concluding that Thibodeau didn’t allow him to utilize his full game. That’s a direct shot at a head coach Minnesota fired halfway through the 2018-19 campaign.

He was replaced by youngster Ryan Saunders, who the Wolves retained this offseason.

For his part, Towns averaged 24.4 points and 12.4 rebounds this past season. The onus is now on Minnesota to improve in order to keep him happy after the big man signed a max-level extension last September.

If not, we could easily envision KAT requesting a trade in season or next summer.
