Karim Benzema reportedly signs three year, $643 million contract to join Saudi Arabian Al-Ittihad soccer club

Real Madrid’s all-time second-highest goalscorer and top assist man Karim Benzema is moving on after 14 seasons with the club. Instead of the 35-year-old striker continuing to dominate in La Liga, he may be mulling a move to the Saudi Pro League thanks to an extremely lucrative contract offer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Benzema has signed a three-year contract worth $643 million with Al-Ittihad of the Saudi Pro League. No official announcement has been made, but one could come as soon as Wednesday, according to some reports.

Previous reports had Benzema linked to a two-year, $439 million offer with the same club. Either way, that’s a boatload of cash. If Benzema’s deal becomes official, he’ll be the latest high-profile soccer star to join the Saudi Pro League, joining Ronaldo and Messi among others.

Benzema has scored 295 goals in his career with Lyon B, Lyon, and Real Madrid, plus 37 more in international play. It’s no wonder why the Saudi Pro League would like to bring Benzema, who’s regarded as one of the best strikers of all time, aboard. We’ll see if it becomes official later this week.
