This weekend’s epic Big Ten clash between Michigan and Ohio State will determine which team gets to play in the conference title game, and which still has a shot at making the College Football Playoff.
There’s so much at stake, and “The Game” hasn’t been this big in a long time.
When asked on Monday if he’d guarantee that Michigan beats Ohio State, running back Karan Higdon said, “Yeah. I do,” per Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic. Higdon said he was willing to take that kind of stand as a team captain.
Quite honestly, Higdon’s guarantee is pretty well founded in reality. The Wolverines haven’t come close to being beaten since Northwestern gave them a game way back at the end of September. Since that three-point win, Michigan has been dominating opponents.
On the other side, Ohio State has gotten lucky to escape its schedule with just one loss this year. Last weekend’s one-point overtime win over Maryland was just the latest example of a team that has struggled to look like an elite team since early this year.
Will Michigan’s top-ranked defense dominate yet another opponent? Will Higdon run rampant over Ohio State’s porous defense? Or will the script get flipped when the Wolverines visit Columbus this Saturday?
