The Kansas City Chiefs brought home the Lombardi Trophy for the first time in 50 years this past season. With star quarterback Patrick Mahomes and defensive tackle Chris Jones inked to massive contract extensions, one of them is now promising more Super Bowl parades are coming to Kansas City.

Chris Jones promises Kansas City Chiefs will win “five-plus rings”

The Chiefs didn’t rest on their laurels this offseason. After winning Super Bowl LIV, Kansas City crushed the 2020 NFL Draft and signed its two biggest stars to massive deals. With the focus now shifting to the 2020 season, Chris Jones is ready to call this team the NFL’s next dynasty.

“This is only the beginning,” Jones said on KCSP 610 Sports Radio, via ProFootballTalk. “We plan to have another parade and another parade and another parade. We’re going to make sure we bring not one, not two, not three, not four, but five-plus rings to Kansas City. It’s been 50 years of waiting, but the wait is over now. It’s time to create a dynasty.”

While Mahomes wasn’t feeling quite as bold in a recent interview, he told ESPN’s Nicole Briscoe that he is setting his goal at six Super Bowl rings, at minimum.

Of course, winning a Super Bowl is exceptionally difficult in the NFL and recent history makes it clear becoming a dynasty is next to impossible. Only two defending champions made it back to the Super Bowl the following year in the past 10 years, each time they lost.

As we detailed in February, it’s going to be extraordinarily challenging for the Chiefs to become a New England Patriots-like dynasty. If any team can pull it off, though, the one with Mahomes and Andy Reid might just do it.
